Broken bridge poses problem for Nadera residents

A broken bridge is posing a major problem for residents of RL Sharma Street in Nadera, outside Suva.
Diana Dugu, 37, of Nadera said that it was becoming a problem for the residents living there because the bridge which was broken and leaning on one side.
She said many workers and students from that area used the bridge daily.
“It is hard for me to accept that the bridge is broken. I noticed this on Monday. I was worried at the same time,” Ms Dugu said.
“We have used the bridge often going to the church, sending kids to school or travelling to town.
“I have to walk only one side of the bridge because it is not safe, Ms Dugu said.
She said that now with part of the bridge broken she did not know the residents would get to the other side of the road to catch the bus.
“We want the bridge to be fixed by relevant authorities so that we can travel with no fear and children reach school on time,” she said.
Questions sent to the Nasinu Town Council were unanswered when this issue when to press.
