Fiji Sun has announced their sponsorship of $45,000 for the 2018 Fiji Bitter Marist 7s which will be held at the ANZ Stadium on March 23-24.

Fiji Sun General Manager Advertising and Business Development Rachna Lal signed the Memorandum of Understanding at the Fiji Sun boardroom yesterday alongside Marist 7s head of marketing Anare Wailevu and Marist Rugby Club president Lawrence Tikaram.

Lal strongly believes on the importance of the company’s partnership with Marist Rugby.

“This will be for print advertising, we at Fiji Sun believe the Marist 7s tournament plays a continuing vital role in promoting grass root rugby in Fiji,” Lal said.

“We are well known for rugby and Marist 7s has been a very strong contributor to this.

“We assure the organising committee of not just our advertising support but also our continued unmatched coverage of the event, we are indeed very privilege to be part of this tournament and we look forward to working with the organising committee,” she said.

Marist Rugby club president Lawrence Tikaram acknowledged the Fiji Sun for their support.

“Today (yesterday) is another historical moment as two major iconic brands come together to serve one purpose and that is to develop grass root rugby in Fiji,” Tikaram said.

“Working in partnership with Fiji Sun we will grow the level of excellence in terms of development for rugby in grass root.

“We also want to express our thanks to C. J. Patel Group managing director, the late Sundip Patel, of his agreement that transpired many years ago, as a former old boy of the school he approached the club wanting to help as his way of giving back to the Marist society and work with the club. We are delighted to say that our agreement, today signifies testimony to that.

“Thanks Fiji Sun and other members of the media who have provided a great support to the event as we grow this tournament from being bigger and better to something that’s a household name,” Tikaram said.
