Madhuwan Reddy, 49, with the help of the Northern Development Programme (NDP) grant has increased his export to Australia.

Mr Reddy, who is the director of Labasa Farm Fresh Limited, said, despite the challenges the business has been doing well.

He received $25,000 in a grant from the NDP and a loan of $128,320 from the Fiji  Development Bank.

“The company started in 2011 and we started exporting local vegetables like jackfruit, chillies and beans to my brother Vinay Reddy, who owns the South Pacific Asian Foods in Australia,” Mr Reddy said.

“We got the idea to start our own processing company and I have no regrets ever since.”

Mr Reddy said they have done a lot through the NDP grant.

“We bought a few machines with the grant and it has boosted our company. I grew up as a farmer before going into this business,” he said.

“My two daughters help me in the business and I have been learning a lot in this business.”

Mr Reddy plans to expand his market in the future.
