The post-mortem examination of a third year nursing student who was allegedly knifed by a man in Labasa will be conducted today.

Police spokesperson Inspector Jokatama Qio confirmed this yesterday as investigations continue.

“It is alleged that the husband struck her at Vakamasuasua in Labasa on Wednesday morning,” Inspector Qio said.

“She was rushed to Labasa Hospital where she passed away. The suspect is in Police custody as investigations continue,” he said.

According to the Police, the weapon that the suspect allegedly used was recovered and it is now in their custody.

He said the young couple were 22 years of age.

The deceased Amelia Catherine was a student of the Then India Sanmarga Ikya (TISI) Sangam College of Nursing in Labasa.
