A Nadi entrepreneur is trying his hand at multiple business startups, venturing into competitive industries like construction and printing and achieving success.

Shahrufh Shah, in 2017, partnered with a close friend Mohammed Aiyaz to start the company Signs Pacific, a business that specialises in large format printing, billboards and vehicle wrapping.

Operating from Vanua Plaza in Votualevu, a place he describes as the fastest-growing suburb in Nadi, Mr Shah employs 10 staff.

Later in the same year, and after finding his feet in the printing sector, Mr Shah moved to revamp the family construction company, Aikay Builders.

He said his attempts to tap in to an industry facing stiff local and international competition, especially for workers, has been smooth-sailing for the eight months since it started.

The entrepreneur is an accountant by profession, using that knowledge in his roles as insurance and real estate agent and a business consultant.

“Good book-keeping is the secret of a good and healthy business,” he said.

A significant aspect to him revamping his construction company was his passion for real-estate.

“Real-estate market is booming and people need more people to serve the ever-growing market.” he said, adding that he conducts business with simplicity, ethics and honesty.

Mr Shah believes his work – in real estate, construction, insurance and printing – are very much linked to each other.

Attributing the bulk of his success so far to his mother and wife who help him manage the businesses, Mr Shah reminds aspiring entrepreneurs to stay calm and enjoy their work.

Mr Shah is a director at two companies, namely Signs Pacific and Aikay Builders.

He is also principal at The City Mentors, as well as a licensed agent with New Indian Assurance and saleperson at Inglewood Realtors Fiji.
