The male staff members organised a special programme to make the day more memorable.

More than 40 women who are employed by the Tanoa Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka were recognised for their commitment in their line of work during an International Women’s Day celebration on Thursday.

Hotel manager Ashlyn Naicker said to coincide with the theme “Press for Change”, the celebration of the day was to embrace change and celebrate the achievements of the women at Tanoa Waterfront.

Ms Naicker said the male staff members organised a special programme to make the day more memorable.

“For me personally International Women’s Day is an occasion where we recognise the women in our lives and appreciate all they have done to make us the women we are today,” Ms Naicker said.

“The men of the hotel have come up with a nice programme for the ladies to make the women feel special on this day.

“With the theme “Press for Change” … meaning to have that equality that we are driving for in terms of being able to do all the challenges that are against us and face it with the confidence,’’ Ms Naiker said

“We have three female hotel managers throughout Fiji, so that is one of the great achievements of the Tanoa Group.

“As for Tanoa Waterfront we have 90 per cent women as department heads.”

She said that with the increasing number of women leaders in today’s world it was inspiring to see that women were contributing to.
