PM Special Guest For Modi And French President Macron

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama flew out of the country on Friday to attend the Conference of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in New Delhi, India on March 11.
Speaking from Sydney to the Fiji Sun, Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister Yogesh Karan said the Prime Minister was going to the meeting as the special guest for the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron.
“Fiji is a founding member of ISA and joined on November 17, 2016,” he said.
Xinhua has reported the event is expected to set the ball rolling for India’s leadership in providing affordable renewable energy.
According to Xinhua other heads of states and heads of governments from countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Seychelles, Ghana, Gabon, Australia, Venezuela, Mauritius, among others will attend the conference.
So far 55 countries have signed the ISA framework agreement out of which 26 have already ratified it
The report says ISA has become the first treaty-based international and inter-governmental organisation to be headquartered in India.
Its secretariat is located in Delhi’s neighbouring town of Gurgugram in the state of Haryana where a land of five acres has been allocated for it.
