Flying Fijians

Simon Hazelman, Savusavu

Halfway through the season and a second title for the series!

Our Flying Fijians are definitely on fire, finishing strong, and chipping away at the overall lead by South Africa!

What else can be said that has not already been said by commentators and reporters as they experienced first-hand, Fijian rugby sevens magic over the last few tournaments

To quote a few:

The entertainers of sevens rugby, all natural ability, skills you just cannot teach, so dangerous with ball in hand, power, pace and precision, it is party time, isn’t it magnificent, they are on fire, beautiful ball, it’s a ripper, what about the pass, a no-look pass, absolute instinct right there, brilliant handling, magic, honestly, how do you defend that, don’t you love it when they’re in this mood, found their mojo, unbelievable skills, unbelievable vision, unbelievable flair, incredible, perfection, top draw, class personified, champagne rugby, icing on the cake, take a bow, signed, sealed and delivered, thanks for coming Fiji, you just don’t want it to end!

Thank you team, thank you Jerry, thank you Gareth Baber!

You are indeed an incredible inspiration to the nation!

We sure don’t want this feeling to end!

Hilarious

Amenatave Yaconisau, Delainavesi

Before we use to have the odious presence of dinosaurs among the sevens spectators, now we also have the towering presence of devout and utmost holy people from the Church.

Good luck to righteous spectators

Wish list

Tukai Lagonilakeba, Namaka Nadi

Reported in the FS March 12, page 8 is part of the SODELPA party’s wish list from their party manifesto unveiled by Sitiveni Rabuka in Sydney on Sunday March 11 after a Church service.

Of particular interest is their promise to remove the Tertiary Loans Scheme that has indiscriminately benefited every Fijian, who wishes to further their studies in whatever field through a tertiary institution of their choice and irrespective of one’s age.

Rabuka further stated he would reintroduce all other scholarships without naming them, but if that meant the former Fijian Affairs and multi Ethnic Affairs Scholarship’s than it is a great disservice to all our Fijian Children.

These scholarships are all about marginalisation and the who you know discriminative syndrome.

During the Rabuka government days these restrictive scholarships were only for a circle of very close friends.

The majority were for government minister’s children and families including any chief’s son or daughter who did not directly deserve the scholarship through the low marks they gained but because of their chiefly status.

Majority of recipients from these old scholarships have still not been able to repay the government back until to date,

But I would like to encourage all those right thinking parents and eligible Fijian youth voters to please reject this SODELPA nonsense.

Toppers and TELS is progressive, inclusive and visionary.

They have given more of our Fijian nationals and students an equal opportunity to become qualified productive Fijians in a short span of time as compared to the discriminating scholarships of old.

I challenge SODELPA to go a notch further and remove Toppers with the Free Education Grant from Kindergarten and Year 1 to 13, I personally believe that this particular issue on SODELPA’s shopping list will see to their total alienation in this year’s National Election.

Reject them Fiji.
