The President and Commander in Chief Major-General (Retired) Jioji Konrote visited the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Navy headquarters at Walu Bay, Suva yesterday.

Navy chief Captain (Navy) Humphrey Tawake said the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Force (RFMF) Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto was also present.

He said the President was impressed with the work of those at the Fiji Maritime Surveillance Rescue Co-ordination Centre (FMSRCC).

One of the recent tragic events the FMSRCC was involved in was the search and retrieval of the ill-fated Cessna 172 that crashed at Delaikoro ridge in Macuata.

According to the RFMF Commander, those manning the FMSRCC worked behind the scenes, but the information they provided to those on the ground was quite helpful.

The FMSRCC is also helping Fiji’s neighbours in the Pacific. Edited by Jonathan Bryce
