Fiji Airways Fijian 7s captain Seremaia Tuwai believes the new players have gained maturity and experience as they begin to produce positive results in the World Rugby Sevens Series.

“We have a lot of new boys they are getting used to the systems, environment and the pace of the game,” Tuwai said.

This was evident with Fiji’s latest performance during the Hamilton 7s, Las Vegas and Vancouver tournaments which saw Fiji being the only team to have won two tournaments in the World Series so far this year.

“This is the start of something new for the team but we have a lot to improve on, so when we get back to camp we will be working on that.”

Tuwai said the win in Vancouver, Canada is history now as they look forward to defend their title in Hong Kong on April 6-8.

“The win in Vancouver is nothing to us because we are looking at winning the World Series.”

And he added that being able to secure the second spot in the World Series standing was a major morale booster for them as a team.

“Coming in second this week gives us a lot of boost in trying to get the top spot on the World Series table,” he said.

The members of the Fiji 7s team were greeted by families and friends upon arrival at the Nadi International Airport, yesterday.
