BLK will be the official merchandise sponsors for the two Fijian athletes that will be competing in the first ever Vodafone Lost Island Ultra Marathon on April 3-8. The marathon is a foot race that will cover more than 200 kilometres over five days. It will take runners from the Suncoast on the Ra coastline through the interior of Viti Levu and finish off in the Coral Coast near Sigatoka.

Speaking during the press conference of the official merchandise handover yesterday, Talanoa Treks director Mathew Capper was excited to host the first of a kind race in the country.

“We had the official launch of the Vodafone Lost Island Ultra Marathon last Sunday and we are getting really excited as we are three weeks away,” Capper said.

“This is where the runners will camp together each night and they are required to prepare their own food. The event will cover five stages with two of our local runners Anna Cowley and Petero Manoa competing. We will be having a number of world famous ultra-marathoners coming in from around the world to compete in this inaugural event.

“We are grateful that Vodafone is the naming sponsors and we are very fortunate to have Tourism Fiji come on board with the development funds to assist us. And we are grateful to BLK for sponsoring the training gears and uniforms for our athletes.”

BLK director of commercial and marketing Liga Gukisuva said they are grateful for the opportunity to sponsor the local athletes.

“We have decided to be part of the event on two main factors, that is BLK has Fijian ownership in it and it is also very important for us to support our local athletes. “Also another fact is that this is the first time the event is happening in Fiji and we are excited to be part of it,”
