After winning the 2018 Fiji Bitter Nawaka and the Mana Whey Coral Coast 7s tournaments, Police is determined to win the 42nd Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens tournament next weekend at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, media officer Jokatama Qio said preparations are coming up well for the players as they would be fielding two teams in their bid to win the tournament after 19 years.

“Preparations are on track for the players who will feature for Police Blue and Police White,” Qio said.

“The coaching staff is led by former national sevens star Manasa‘Black Pearl’ Bari.

“Despite being the defending Coral Coast 7s and Nawaka 7s champions that will not count in this tournament since the Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens is a different ball game all together.

“This tournament continuously to slip from our grip as the last time we won the annual event was in 1999.

“We have some senior players like Sitiveni Waqa, Livai Ikanikoda, Mitieli Nacagilevu and a few others who will be leading the charge.

“And we will also introduce some young players. We believe some of them will make an impact if given the opportunity to showcase their talents.”
