Police To Submit Papers On Restructure To Cabinet

The Fiji Police Force is in the process of submitting its cabinet papers in regard to its restructure process.
This was disclosed by the Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho yesterday.
Brigadier-General Qiliho said they had been working with Government on the restructure process.
“It took over one and a half years to go through that consultation process where we talked to the senior officers, to the managers and we went to the Police stations and Police posts to talk to the constables down on the front line,” he said.
The restructure process looked at manpower issues, equipment infrastructure, it also included pay and emoluments which was addressed by the government recently.
“Government not only completed the job evaluation exercise, but they also addressed other pay issues that we raised with them, so that was all part of the holistic restructure process,” Brigadier-General Qiliho said.
“We’ve made presentations, we are now in the process of submitting the cabinet papers, and so until cabinet endorses that, then we will be able to make those statements.”
He said that they had gone through the process of consulting members of the National Security Council and the Minister for Defence.
“We were in the process of taking it to former commissioners, invite them to sit down and give us ideas on it and also prominent people in the corporate sector that we were thinking of to discuss this with,” he said.
He added that they had been given directives on how to phase that out because it would involve significantly a huge amount of money as well.
