100 More Motorbikes

Police will get 100 more motorbikes in the next two weeks.
Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho confirmed this after he allocated 30 motorbikes to Police stations and posts on Friday.
He said it was the first time ever the Police would receive such a high number or motorbikes.
Mr Qiliho said he had gone to Asco Motors to look at the 900CC and the 200CC bikes that they were assembling.
“So that will give us 130 Yamaha motorbikes of 200CC, 600CC and 900CC that will roll out into the community.
“It is provided for by the Government, budgeted for by the Government and provided to us.
“In addition to that we had 20 motorcycles donated by a Chinese company late last year and also the ones donated by the Chinese government.
“In the next two weeks, we will be getting Chinese vehicles that were received by Government as well.”
Mr Qiliho said it was a great time for Police to be able to get the type of vehicles they required for the types of terrain they operate in.
He added that the significant progress was the type of vehicles that would be moving up to the Keiyasi, Navosa area and into Tukavesi in the North.
“Later on we are looking at moving into rough terrain like Nadarivatu and Namosi,” he said.
“It’s a great time for policing and for Fiji that the Government has invested in these. It will help us provide a better service to everyone,” Mr Qiliho said.
