The Nailega Blues won the 2018 Uluinakau Sevens tournament defeating Congo Waimanu 24-17 in the Cup final at the Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori yesterday.

Nailega Blues manager Ulaiasi Bolalevu was happy with their performance as they gear up for the 2018 Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens on Friday and Saturday.

The team comprised of Tabadamu players with the inclusion of the two overseas-based ruggers Darren Hunt and Abele Yalayalatabua.

“This is a build-to the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s so we are very much looking forward to it,”Bolalevu said.

“This win will help boost our morale as we head into our final preparations.

“We played for Nailega Blues but the team consists of the Tabadamu players. We have two overseas players so it will be good to see them in the mix among local boys.”

Uluinakau Rugby president Epi Kolinivala said the tournament was a success and most of the teams adjusted well to the point system.

Kolinivala added that the most important part of the tournament was the development of women rugby.

In the semi-final Nailega Blues defeated defending champions Army Green in the semi-final 19-0 and Congo Waimanu edged out Uluinakau 7-0.
