Playing in next month’s Hong Kong Sevens tournament is next on the list for Kalione Nasoko.

The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s hooker scooped the Fiji Rugby 7s Player of the Year Award.

“I thank the Lord for his guidance in the last series and also in this series,” he said.

“I thank the coach, management and if we did not have these players I would not be on the stage to receive the award.”

The 27-year-old is part of head coach Gareth Baber’s squad for the Commonwealth Games.

“The target is to win the series, the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and the Sevens Rugby World Cup but I cannot forget the Hong Kong 7s were I was first inspired to play rugby.”

Nasoko dedicated the award to his dad Iliesa Rasoqo, who works at the Botaira Resort in Naviti.

“Where ever I go he would be there supporting me,” he added.
