Local musician Samuela Waqa who was allegedly found with 22 x 9-millimetre live ammunition in his home will have his case called in the Suva High Court today.

The 55-year-old accused appeared before Magistrate Deepika Prakash yesterday represented by lawyer Iqbal Khan.

He is charged with one count of possession of arms and ammunition without a licence.

On March 7, 2018 a Police operation team raided Waqa’s home in Domain Road and allegedly found the ammunition inside a purple Adidas bag which was hanging on a wall.

Thirteen of the ammunition were packed inside an empty Benson & Hedges 10s cigarette packet and nine were wrapped inside a blue plastic.

Magistrate Prakash informed Mr Khan that she would transfer the case to the High Court.

The case will be heard before Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe.

The accused was further remanded in custody until today.
