Strong Start Key: Tuwai

The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team focuses on having a strong start in the first game of the fourth leg of the World Sevens Series in Hong Kong on April 6-8.
Team captain Seremaia Tuwai admitted slow starts led to their downfall in Sydney and Las Vegas tournaments.
Tuwai said the team needs to buck the current trend by winning the second tournament.
The team lost in Sydney but bounced back to win in Hamilton. Likewise the Gareth Baber –coached side lost in Las Vegas and hit back to win in Vancouver beating Kenya 31-12 in the final.
Tuwai said fans always want to win in Hong Kong.
And now they have a rare chance of scoring a double by winning the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast a week later.
“There has been a trend now in the team where we seem to lose in the first tournament but we come back strongly in the second tournament,” Tuwai said.
“We will need to win Hong Kong as this is an important tournament for us and all Fijians wants to win so we are working hard on our goal.
“We need to have strong starts if we are to win Hong Kong and gold at the Commonwealth Games.”
Tuwai believes on the importance of trusting Coach Gareth Baber to get the job done for the remaining tournaments in the 2018/2019 series.
“We are in camp right now, no pressure on the boys but we just need to trust what the coach is doing for us.
“Right now there are lot of new boys in camp, they are used to the atmosphere, environment and the level of training and playing in the World Series. They now know the importance of discipline and sacrifice,” he said.
“We are on a right track.”
