The Whiteside family will represent Team Fiji in badminton at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast next month.

The team comprised manager/father Barry Whiteside and his daughters Karyn Gibson, Danielle and Andra Whiteside.

Team captain Andra Whiteside believes family presence will boost their participation.

“It’s always great to have family there, we support and guiding each other,” Andra said.

“We are looking forward to be sharing our knowledge and skills on the playing field.”

Andra was impressed with her team’s performance in the 2018 Oceania Badminton Championships held in Hamilton, New Zealand.

“We did well winning the bronze medal. New Zealand won gold and Australia silver. It was a good achievement for us.

“Taking part in the Commonwealth Games will be tough but we are grateful we are in together as a family,” she said.
