Special Event For Mother And Son

Graduate Sainiana Radrodro said she personally felt the need to set a platform for younger women and women who are disadvantaged.
It was a special day for a mother and son yesterday after they both graduated with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Law and Politics.
Former journalist Sainiana Waqainabete Radrodro, who is now a communications analyst, drew special inspiration from the event saying she hoped to inspire young women, school dropouts, teenage mothers and single parents.
“I was a high school dropout and I was a teenage mother. I took myself to school after I gave birth, fortunately with my dad’s support,” she said.
Mrs Radrodro said since then, she has never looked back and inspired her children to work hard.
She said she personally felt the need to set a platform for younger women and women who are disadvantaged.
“At the moment there are four of us at the university … both my sons and husband as well,” Mrs Radrodro said.
She said she was especially proud to graduate with one of her sons, Tevita Draunidalo Cagilaba.

“It has been a challenge, but we helped each other out in assignments,” she said.
The 41-year-old has worked at The Fiji Times, the then Fiji Trade Investment Board (now Investment Fiji) Ministry of Works and Transport, the Fiji Electricity Authority, the United Nations Development Programme and the UN Women.
“In all the areas that I have worked and travelled, one thing that have always inspired me is gender investment,” Mrs Radrodro said.
