Lowata Yalovia, originally from Batiri, in Nadroga, graduated with a  Master of Commerce in professional accounting yesterday.

The 34-year-old is currently working at the Office of the Auditor- General in Suva.

“I am overjoyed and blessed that I have achieved a lot given that I am a mother and working lady,” Ms Yalovia said.

She is the mother of two sons,  a five-year-old son, who was able to witness his mother’s graduation, and the second  one is a one year old being looked after by her mother.

“My first graduation was in year 2011 for a Bachelor of Commerce, second was a Postgraduate in Commerce and now my masters is done,” she said.

“It is not easy for a mother and working woman to study. I had to manage my time well to be able to do my assignments and exams.”

She is the first in the family to graduate. She is the only daughter of a single mother.

“My mother is my inspiration because she faced a lot of challenges … being a single mother she supported me financially,” she said.

Ms Yalovia is a former student of Jai Narayan College in Suva.
