Man ordered to sign a fresh bail form

A 33-year-old man, who is charged with one count of act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, was ordered to sign a fresh bail form in the High Court on Thursday.

The accused Akapusi Qalobula appeared before Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza.

He was represented by private lawyer Mathew Collin Young.

It is alleged that on February 21, 2018 Qalobula struck his neighbour on the face using a cane knife.

State lawyer Eoghan Samisoni sought time to file and serve information and disclosures to the defence.

Mr Samisoni requested for 21 days to do this.

Justice Hamza was told that the accused had been granted bail in the Magistrates Court.

Accordingly, Justice Hamza extended his bail on the same conditions imposed by the Magistrates Court provided he sign a fresh bail form in the High Court registry together with his two sureties.

The case was adjourned to April5, 2018.
