Lautoka Set For Muslim IDC

Lautoka are ready to defend the Vodafone Muslim Interdistrict Championship title at Prince Charles Park, Nadi this Easter weekend.

The tournament is organised by the Fiji Muslim Sports Association.

The Sugar City side are banking on the services of striker Mohammed Shazil and stylish midfielder Zibraaz Sahib, who is away on national duties in the Philippines. He is expected to join them before the end of the week.

Hosts Nadi have called in defender William Valentine and striker Afraz Ali to boost their campaign.

Association vice-president Javed Ahmed confirmed that 17 teams would be part of the IDC and have been divided into four pools.

“We are delighted to have Vodafone on board as our major sponsor for the event for the second year running and we thanked them for their continuous support,” he said.

“All the teams are preparing well and looking forward to an exciting four-day tournament where district reps will be in action.”

The pool matches will be played on Friday and Saturday while the quarterfinals and semifinal will be played on Sunday. The finals will be played on Monday.

Pool 1: Lautoka, Nasinu, Cuvu, Drasa

Pool 2: Valelevu, Navua, Maro, Sabeto;

Pool 3: Makoi, Rewa, Nadi, Varavu, Lokia;

Pool 4; Maigania, Suva, Sigatoka, Ba.
