0 Out of 8- Pearls Still Winless

Fijian Pearls head coach Vicki Wilson strongly believes losing to Jamaica, Malawi and New Zealand in the Taini Jamison Trophy competition ‘was necessary preparation for the Commonwealth Games’.

She also indicated that they were targeting the Oceania Championship, which doubles as qualification for the 2019 World Cup

Let’s hope that Wilson is true to her words and has something up her sleeve to produce the much- needed results.

Ever since Wilson was confirmed as head coach in 2016, hopes were high that she would take Fiji Netball to greater heights.

But so far, that is not happening.

Instead, there has been a lot of disappointment on the results attained by the Pearls in their international outings since September, last year.

So, why is Fiji Netball silent especially when the Pearls have lost their last eight international matches? Something is wrong somewhere and all stakeholders should be sitting up now and take notice of what’s happening.

So as of now let’s keep our fingers crossed that Wilson and the Pearls prove us wrong at the Commonwealth Games. If not then she and the Fiji Netball executives should consider taking the most appropriate step for the good of netball in the country.
