In response to an SOS call from the Tahiti Nui II the Fijian Navy has charted a plane to search for 25-year-old Satini Lakepa (Junior).

When the Fiji Sun contacted the Captain of the Tahiti Nui II, Sairusi Cavalaba, he was at Totogo Police Station to report the matter.

Captain Cavalaba told Fiji Sun yesterday Mr Lakepa went missing as they were returning from Kadavu.

He said they were still trying to establish the facts surrounding the incident.

The Fijian Navy Maritime Surveillance Rescue Coordination Centre (FMSRC) has confirmed that they had hired a plane from Pacific Island Air to conduct a search of the Kadavu and Beqa waters.

Fijian Navy Commander Captain (Navy) Humphrey Tawake told Fiji Sun the naval vessel Kula would also join the search party.

The Tahiti Nui II is owned by Kokomo Private Island Resort on Yakuve Island, in the province of Kadavu. It is one of the two vessels owned by Kokomo; the other is called the Tahiti Nui I.

Tahiti Nui II is stationed at the Kings Wharf in Suva.
