Tourism Fiji is confident that the 2018 Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE) is going to set a new record and provide an ideal environment for buyers and exhibitors to do business.

Tourism Fiji chief executive officer Matthew Stoeckel said FTE has grown not only in the number of interested participants but in terms of the quality of international buyers that have been attracted.

“This year’s event will be from April 10 to 12,” Mr Stoeckel said.

“It is another record year for us in terms of having more than 260 exhibitors and more than 180 buyers.

“We host buyers from all over the world and ensure that they also have an opportunity to experience Fiji first hand.”

Tourism Fiji, Mr Stoeckel says, has a major a role in arranging event logistics and ensures buyers and sellers are connected through appointments in the two-day event.

The FTE’s main objective, he said, was to establish new partnerships and strengthen existing ones between exhibitors and buyers.

“Our role is to bring quality international buyers and media from our various key source markets and emerging ones to engage with our local partners in Fiji,” he said.

“It is an opportunity for our buyers to experience the best of Fiji.

“Preparation of the 2018 Expo is making good progress with the expo and are formalising arrangements to ensure that FTE is bigger and better than last year.”

He said Tourism Fiji assesses all applications to ensure that exhibitors and international buyers have a common interest and are evenly matched.
