Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the rapid expansion of Legal Aid Commission (LAC) offices around Fiji indicated the Government’s “unwavering commitment to justice”.

“Unwavering commitment to justice, to equal opportunity and to equal services for ordinary Fijians no matter where they live in our country,” Mr Bainimarama said.

He made these statements during the opening of the Legal Aid Commission Tavua branch yesterday.

“This new office opening, along with all of the development and services delivered and expanded under my leadership is all part of the same consistent agenda carried out by my Government over the past decade,” Mr Bainimarama said.

Legal Aid Commission (LAC) Acting Director Shahin Ali said their goals were in line with the Fijian Government’s inclusive policy.

“We have made legal services readily and easily accessible, being able to access courts and tribunals and being able to seek legal redress which should not be reserved for the rich and privileged, but rather it is for every Fijian,” he said.

The Tavua office will be managed by two lawyers, two paralegals and a transport officer.
