Arrest Made In Western Union Robbery

Police have made an arrest in a robbery case in which two suspects made off with $70,000 last Saturday.

The robbery at Western Union’s branch in Centrepoint, outside Suva, was done in broad daylight.

Acting Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Vakacegu Toduadua confirmed the arrest.

Police said the two suspects entered a DVD shop which is housed in the same premises as the Western Union outlet, and hit the security guard with a pinch bar.

The same tool is alleged to have been used to break into the office. Out of the $70,000, it was alleged that $30,000 was in Fijian currency.
