Group Nets A $2.4million Surplus

The Then India Sanmarga Ikya (T.I.S.I) Sangam recorded a net surplus of $2.4 million last year.
This was confirmed by the organisation’s national secretary, Damend Gounder, during the 91st T.I.S.I Sangam Convention at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.
He also revealed that as part of its investment, earlier this week the T.I.S.I Sangam has finalised documents for the purchase of a 2.7 acre piece of land in Nadi town.
“We need young educated persons who are able to connect with the development of Sangam. I believe that we can become members of Sangam because there are prerequisites to fulfil, but the question is are we really members of Sangam?” Mr Goundar asked.
“To be a member of Sangam it’s a social contract, a social bond for us to improve the lives of people through the organisation.”
He added that the Shri Shiva Subramanya Temple in Nadi was under renovation with the construction of a new vegetarian restaurant and a new cultural complex worth $7.5 million.
Sangam national president Sadasivan Naicker said the temple was an icon in Nadi for locals and foreigners.
