Nasinu upset defending champions Lau­toka 2-0 in the 73rd Vodafone Fiji Muslim IDC at Prince Charles Park in Nadi yes­terday.

The side comprised Fijian U17 goal keeper Mo­hammed Izaar and former Rewa striker Zameel Hussain who scored the winning goal against Ba in the 2014 Battle of the Giants.

The side bounced back after their 2-0 loss to Dra­sa in their first match.

Skipper Zameel Hussain said, “It was a sweet victory as Lautoka was full of district reps. We prepared well and hope to beat Cuvu. But if we draw, we can still qualify. We thank our family for their support.”

Lautoka included Ba rep Abbu Zahid, Moham­med Shazil Ali, and Mofain Hussein in goal.

Mohammed Shalmeen scored a brace of goal as Nadi walloped Varavu (Ba) 3-1 after a 2-1 lead at halftime.

The host team includes William Valentine and Shafim Buksh.

Striker Faizal Shah was the toast for the Maiga­nia side after they beat Suva 1-0.

“The boys played a good game and we have a chance to make the semifinal,”manager Firaaz Ali said.
