176 Passengers On Board MV Spirit of Altruism Safe

One-hundred and seventy-six passengers have been confirmed safe after MV Spirit of Altruism was stuck on the Cakaudavui Reef earlier today.
Permanent Secretary for Infrastructure David Kolitagane who was at Natovi Jetty confirmed that the passengers were all safe and no one was injured.
Passengers arrived at the Natovi jetty on board another Patterson Brothers Seaboard Shipping Company Limited Shipping vessel.
They arrived at 9pm.

Earlier in the day, the Fiji Maritime Surveillance Rescue Coordination Center was closely monitoring the situation.
The Center is currently monitoring a situation near Levuka. The ‘Spirit of Altruism’, a RORO vessel has run aground.
