Power In Jesus Name, Athletes Told

The Team Fiji contingent was hosted to a welcoming church service at the Elenora United Church in Gold Coast, Australia on Sunday.
The church service was hosted by the Fijian community in Gold Coast and Brisbane.
After the service a traditional welcoming ceremony was accorded to the team before refreshments were served.
Pastor Osea Seru, who officiated the church service, reminded the athletes of the importance of having faith in God as they prepare for the Commonwealth Games.
“The power in the name of Jesus provides protection and covering for them that believe in it. When you call his name in time of danger, Jesus quickly shields you from any imminent evil,” he said.
“The name of Jesus is so powerful that ignorance of it, is robbing many of God’s blessings and fulfilment in life. “The enemy will do anything to keep man in the dark so that he can continue to oppress him.
“The truth is that the power in the name of Jesus brings deliverance from all oppression of the devil and delivers dominion to mankind.
“Before you enter the field of play remember God in everything, then you will conquer.”
The Team Fiji women’s rugby side sang a hymn on behalf of the contingent.
Team Fiji chef de mission Patrick Bower acknowledged the Fijian community for their support.
“On behalf of the sports association in Fiji we would like to thank you sincerely for everything you have done for us,” Bower added.
