133 RFMF personnel helping in Ba, Nadi

More than 100 personnel from the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces’ 3rd Battalion Fiji Infantry Regiment (3FIR) are now on the ground assisting flood victims within the Western Division, mainly in Nadi and Ba.
RFMF’s Commanding Officer 3FIR, Lieutenant-Colonel Penioni Naliva, said these soldiers would be based within the flood affected areas until recovery works were complete.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama also thanked the RFMF personnel and Government officials involved in making sure that assistance reached the thousands of people affected by the floods in the West.
Also on the ground to oversee operations was RFMF’s Officer Commanding Delta Company – Nadi, Major Mikaele Wara.
Lieutenant-Colonel Naliva said they would work around the clock to deliver food rations to flood victims in Nadi and Ba.
“They are helping out in the cleaning up of heavy debris in schools and other infrastructure including villages and settlements in these heavily affected areas,” Lieutenant-Colonel Naliva said.
