PM: Govt Targets 10,000 Food Ration Pack Delivery

The Government is targeting to deliver 10,000 food ration packs to areas affected by the floods in the Western Division.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, while touring the division yesterday, said volunteer groups had stepped in to help with the packing of food rations at the Punjas distribution centre in Lautoka.
“We are targeting 10,000 food rations to be delivered throughout the Western Division to those affected by the flood in the last couple of days. All villages and settlements will be covered by the assistance,” the PM said.
Commissioner Western Manasa Tagicakibau said so far they have managed to distribute more than 6000 food ration packs in Nadi and Ba.
Mr Bainimarama said some families had nothing to survive on after the flood destroyed their homes.
“They have no cooking utensils, they have no food so we are targeting them in this assistance,” Mr Bainimarama said.
He also called on volunteers to help deliver the food rations to people to those affected by the floods.
“We have heard a lot of NGOs, churches and groups assisting, This is what they need right now, if you want to assist people affected by the floods, cook a pot of dhal and bring it to them,” the PM said.
Mr Bainimarama will continue his tour of Ba today.
