The TPR Warehouse Easter Amateur Golf championship gets underway at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa, Suva, today.
Club press officer Ilaisa Labaibure said yesterday the aim of the two-day tournament is to lift the standard of golfing in the country.
“The key thing is to strengthen the club position in operation wise in terms of ensuring an increase in membership,” he said.
“This is the cornerstone of the club moving forward into 2018 where we could secure sponsorships for major events. As a club we want to maintain the high standard of golfing for 2018.”
Labaibure added that to keep the sport alive it’s important to build-up players throughout the country..
