Go Eileen go

Losalini Elizabeth, Suva

A gold medal to the newspaper which put Eileen Cikamatana’s great weightlifting success on the front and back page.

Some in the media seem to think men’s rugby and boxing are the only sports that count.

New low

Daya Wati,  Nausori

Did I read it right?

Fiji Labour Party, which is one of the oldest political parties in Fiji, actually issued a statement that Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama was in Brisbane?

This is a new low for Mahendra Chaudhry. He should be ashamed of himself for spreading fake news.

Shame, shame.

Undecided voters

Savenaca Vakaliwaliwa, Suva

A letter published in the other daily said that the high number of undecided voters means building the platform for change.

Another letter said it was clear after the floods that people had made up their mind about the current leadership.

Both writers lean towards the possibility of undecided voters voting against the FijiFirst Government and, therefore, a change in leadership after the 2018 General Election.

I believe in the opposite, that undecided voters are those who are about to tick the current Government to reign for another four years, but are weighing in the balance the promises and manifestos of the other political parties.

In our current situation, floods and all, if I was an undecided voter then I would not trust empty promises but go ahead and tick the reigning Government which has by far an excellent track record in living up to its name – Fiji First.

I believe the floods will result in another landslide victory for the current Government.

Promises

Sukha Singh, Labasa

Wouldn’t it be nice if some party could promise to make hurricane and flood-proof houses plus rations and $1000 as soon as a hurricane or flood hits us anywhere in Fiji?

Yes, we can give up good roads and nice footpaths.

God’s power

Dharmendra Kumar, Suva

“He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.

“When he uttereth his voice there is a multitude of waters in the heavens and cause the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth.

He maketh the lightning with rain and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.”

Look around you and see how vast the universe is. God is indeed powerful.

TV Guide

Avishek Narayan, Suva

We thank the responsible authorities for taking Fiji into the digital era of television.

Could the various broadcasters on the Walesi platform make an effort to update their programme schedules (guide) on a daily basis?
