Banuve Tabakaucoro is helping St Joseph’s Secondary School for the 2018 Coca- Cola Games.

The former Pacific sprint king and Coca-Cola Games blue ribbon champion along with old scholar Sisilia Seavula have been assisting head coach Karalaini Seruiratu preparing the girls for the past two months.

The Fiji Finals starts on Thursday and ends on Saturday, next week at the ANZ Stadium, Suva with 151 schools participating.

Tabakaucoro said the athletes have been preparing well for the Fiji Finals and they are focused on improving their standings in the annual event.

He said weekly time trials which began last month helped to streamline the athletes’ performances.

“The training started during the off-season and we have been taking down the names of those clocking best times in each event.

“We were third last year and we will try to make the first two spots.

“Preparations have been going well and we are determined to cause an upset in 2018.

Training the girls, he says, is a new experience and a challenge.

“It is something new and I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience and I know they will do well at the Fiji Finals,” he said.
