Mustafa Fall qualified for the final round of the men’s discus after finishing in the top 12 with a throw of 39.68metres.

Fall’s personal best is 50.28m and his season’s best is of 45.86m.

Jamaica’s Traves Smikle is the favorite for this event after a throw of 64.69m in the qualifying rounds and Australia Matty Denny is the second favourite with a throw of 64.67m.

“I’m excited and I’’m looking forward to the final round,” Fall said.

“I have come a long way to reach the final.”

The final will be held at the Carrara Stadium today.

 

Vollmer

Veteran Eugene Vollmer finished eighth in the men’s triple jump’s qualifying round in group B.

Vollmer jumped a distance of 15.32metres but failed to qualify for the next round.
