An organisation consisting of Fijians living in Melbourne, Australia, have sent a member to buy kitchen utensils for Fijians affected by the floods here.

Fiji-born Kamal Kishore, who is from Tunalia in Nadi, told Fiji Sun that the group embarked on a project to bring relief to flood victims.

Mr Kishore is the president of the group in Australia called Fiji Aid Melbourne (Fijian).

He said flood victims were receiving food, water, clothes and other things from various organisations, but the group decided to buy kitchen items for them.

“One of our members is now in Fiji with $10,000, which we have collected through the fundraising dinner here in Melbourne to assist flood victims,” Mr Kishore said.

“This is our first priority, to give help to the people in Fiji who are in need and we will continue to collect funds, clothes or anything that can be useable for the people.

“If the need arises we will hire a container. We have sent containers before to Fiji for the people who were in need.”

The group, which has been in operation for the past 10 years, was formed to help the unfortunate, underprivileged, the needy and students of Fiji.

“We are doing a fundraising charity night on the 28th of April for our next phase of help,” Mr Kishore said.

“We will always be there to help our brothers and sisters in need in times like this and the students whom we will always help.

“We are doing this and we will do more for our people in Fiji, hand in hand with the Government.”
