Elusive Walsh Hard To Hit: Hill

Boxer Winston Hill aims to make a comeback stronger after losing out in the semifinal of the men’s 69kg category on Friday.
The 23-year-old was beaten by Northern Ireland’s Aidan Walsh on a unanimous point’s decision to settle for a bronze medal.
Hill said he tried his best to hit the target but continuously failed as Walsh had the upper hand with height advantage, skills and technique.
“He comes up with different styles and tactics and had the height advantage. His style of boxing was very rangy, very controlled, very little chances taken. It was up to me to bring the fight and try to land more punches to get close to him but he was very good controlling range and made use of the ring,” he said.
“I’m disappointed with how the fight went, I tried to get in but I couldn’t,” Hill said.
“But I have tried my best for the country.”
These are some areas Hill believes he will need to work on.
“I have to review my performance as their always room for improvement.
“But first need to rest and recover after all those months of training and preparation.”
Making the semifinals and winning a bronze medal for Fiji was a big accomplishment.
Coach Napoleon Taumoepeau was proud of Hill’s achievements.
