Two grandchildren receive top academic awards at Waitui Cluster Presentation

Pita Baro believes in the val­ue of education and the im­portance of God in people’s lives.

The Lomanikoro grandfather in Rewa testified that they had taught their grandchildren this value.

On Tuesday, Mr Baro received the Delaibatiki Shield on behalf of his grandson, Tevita Moimoi (Rewa District School), as the top Year 8 student last year in the Waitui Cluster. Moimoi is now studying at Queen Victoria School in Mata­vatucou.

The cluster comprises four prima­ry schools, Rewa District School, Vutia District School, Nukui Dis­trict School and St Joseph Naililili.

Mr Baro’s granddaughter, Timal­eti Rakaria, also of Rewa District School, took the third prize.

The second prize went to Mikaele Kaloucava (Nukui District School), now studying at Ratu Kadavulevu School in Lodoni, Tailevu,

Mr Baro said they had been nur­turing the two children “in the ways of God and stressing that ed­ucation is the key that opens doors to opportunities in life.”

The Waitui Cluster’s top class eight students from last year:

1st – Tevita Moimoi, 416 marks (Rewa District School)

2nd – Mikaele Kaloucava – 379 marks (Nukui District School)

3rd – Timaleti Rakaria – 368 marks (Rewa District School)
