Kameli Seduadua made a double scoop at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, yesterday.

Not only he won the gold medal for Ratu Kadavulevu School, he also set a new record in the senior boys 400 metres.

The 19-year-old Naweni, Cakaudrove native clocked 47.47 seconds beating the old record of 47.74s set by Marist Brothers High School’s Tira Narara in 2012 .

Seduadua represented Fiji at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia and was confident of clocking a record time and winning gold for RKS.

“I wanted to finish high school on a high note,”he said.

“At the beginning of the year, my goals are to break the 400m record and to attain good marks in my Year 13 examination.

“I give back the glory to the Almighty, coaches and families for their never ending support.”

His parents travelled from Vanua Levu to watch him run at the Coca- Cola Games.

“While growing up in the village and watching the games on television, I have always dreamt of running for a school in Suva one day. I never thought that this dream would turn into reality,” he said.

“My parents came from Savusavu to Suva last Saturday to greet me at Nausori Airport and to watch me run at the Fiji Finals.”

He said the Commonwealth Games experience was something to cherish

“Running at the international arena with athletes from around the world was a good experience for me and a moment to cherish.”

Seduadua will be running in the 4×400 relay finals at 3.10 pm today.
