It is that time of the year again, where school students decide to spend their holiday at their respective villages and this was evident on Monday at Narayan Jetty, Suva.

School students were boarding the MV Brianna for Northern Lau and there were others who were picking up their sacks of coconuts and sea harvests sent by their families from the islands.

Samu Bale, 17, was travelling to Vanua Balavu said he could not wait to reach home and spend the holiday with his parents.

“I am attending one of the prominent high schools here in Suva and it has been two months since I have spoken to my parents,” Mr Bale said.

“I cannot wait to reach the island to see and to speak to them again, I live with my uncle and his family here in Suva,” he said.

“While spending the two weeks break at the village, I will go out fishing and swimming.” Anarieta Tukana, 18, said it was her first visit her village Lavena on Vanuabalavu.

“This is my first to visit the village and I cannot wait to meet family and make new friends at the village,” Ms Tukana said.

“I cannot wait to experience island life and return to tell my friends all about it.

“I will go out fishing with cousins, may be do some of hiking also.”

Term of school begins on Monday April 7, 2018.
