Man Allegedly Punched Son

A 43-year-old man who allegedly assaulted his son was refused bail in the Nasinu Magistrates Court yesterday after he appeared for a charge of assault.

The accused faces one count of assault causing actual bodily harm.

On April 23, 2018, he allegedly assaulted his 15-year-old son by punching his right eye, chest, ribs and stomach.

Police prosecutor Constable Setareki Mocevakaca served the accused with full phase disclosures.

The accused’s right to counsel was read out to him in court and he chose to waive his right by representing himself.

Magistrate Sufia Hamza issued an interim Domestic Violence Restraining Order with standard non-molestation and no contact orders.

Constable Mocevakaca objected to his bail and the accused was further remanded in custody.

The case was adjourned to April 27, 2018.
