A total of five Solomon Islands young players will travel to England for trials with Premier League clubs.

Originally Royals Football Academy in Solomon Islands revealed they wanted to send three u17 stars to train in front of English scouts. However, it has now confirmed five players will be sent to trials in September.

The players will be joined by New Zealand and Australian youngsters to form a team that will play English Premier League development sides with a view to joining the academies.

Royals Football Academy has not revealed the identity of the five players and cannot 100% confirm the trip at this stage. At least two of the players are expected to be from the Solomon Islands u17 national team.

The academy said: “The boys will join other players from NZ and Aussie to form a team that will play the youth teams of EPL Clubs and if they impress, they will be given the opportunity to be part of the EPL Clubs development side, which gives them the chance to play in the EPL one day. A lot of the NZ and Aussie players playing in the EPL now and in the past went through this program to become EPL players.”

However, it says it will cost $6,000 for flights and expenses and it will now have to raise the funds to be able to send the players.

A fundraising committee has been created to send the players to England to play in front of scouts.
