Three Robbery Suspects Arrested

Three men who were alleged to have been involved in an aggravated robbery were taken into custody yesterday.
Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said the aggravated robbery case involved five men, two of whom are still on the run.
He said the alleged crime involved Police officers being attacked, resulting in an officer being injured and a Police vehicle sustaining damage.
ACP Tudravu said the incident occurred early on Thursday at a yaqona shop in Nakasi in which five men, armed with knives and timber, forcefully entered the premises and stole cash, cigarettes and a mobile phone belonging to the 57-year-old salesman.
He said a team of officers conducting night operations in the Eastern Division arrived at the scene and were confronted by the group, who allegedly attacked the Police officers by smashing the window of the vehicle before fleeing the scene.
“An officer sustained injuries as a result of the attack,” acting Commissioner Tudravu said.
“A taskforce has been working round the clock to apprehend the men with three arrests made in the past 24 hours. We are working to arrest the remaining two suspects.”
Acting Commissioner Tudravu said attacks on officers would not be condoned and those who choose to do so should keep in mind that all efforts would be directed towards apprehending them.
