It is more than a week and the mother who abandoned her new born baby girl at Labasa Market is still missing.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the search was continuing.
“We don’t have any information about the mother yet and request members of the public for their assistance,” Ms Naisoro said.
“The baby is safe and looked after by the Department of Social Welfare.
“It has been alleged that the mother entered Labasa market, handed her baby to a market vendor and failed to return on April 24 around 2pm.
“The vendor reported the matter at Labasa market community police post and the baby was taken to Labasa Hospital.”
