Rest, Recover

The players are tired as they went through one of the busiest months they ever had with the Commonwealth Games, Hong Kong and Singapore 7s tournaments- Coach Gareth Baber
The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team will be focusing on maintaining their position at the top of the 2017/2018 World Seven Series in the London-Paris leg next month.
But Coach Gareth Baber wants the players to rest and recover well following their win at the Singapore 7s over the weekend.
“We achieved top spot in Singapore and we want to be in that position until the end of the series and the players will be focusing on that,” Baber said.
However, he said they would be prioritising on the players’ recovery sessions this week before they proceed with any other preparations.
“The players are tired as they went through one of the busiest months they ever had with the Commonwealth Games, Hong Kong and Singapore 7s tournaments. It was a challenge but to play in three finals was great.”
He said it was very unfortunate for them missing out on the Commonwealth Games gold medal, but the two other wins were pretty good for them.
“I’m expecting everybody back in camp next week, where we will be assessing all the players. We are two to three weeks away before we fly off to the London Sevens.”
Players for Skipper Cup
Baber said there was a possibility he would be releasing players for Skipper Cup Premiership duties.
“I feel there is an advantage of getting game time for some players in the Skipper Cup,”he said.
He said he also scouts for players in the Skipper Cup.
