A club from New Zealand is taking part for the first time in the Fiji Swimming Long Course Age National Competition at the Damodar City Aquatic Centre, Suva.

The Dannevirke Amateur Swimming Club is taking part in the three-day competition which started yesterday.

Team manager Michelle Mitchell said the team is excited to be part of the annual event

“Some of the swimmers are new here and they are very excited, happy and overwhelmed with the hospitality from the locals,”Mitchell said.

“It’s should be a great experience for our swimmers. We just need to adjust to the condition but it is similar to what we have back at home.”

Mitchell said the competition will be a great buildup as they prepare for upcoming competitions at home.

“The competition will be a great buildup for the team as they have just competed in Long Course competition,” she said

She said the team is here to perform at their very best.

“Our objective is to enjoy our games when competing with other teams,” she said
