A majority of people want the partnership between Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum as deputy to continue for another term, the latest Fiji Sun-Razor public opinion poll revealed.

The positive result is obviously based on the strong performance of the FijiFirst Government during its first four-year term.

The poll shows Mr Bainimarama in a commanding lead with 63 per cent as the people’s popular choice for Prime Minister.

Closest to him are SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka at 12 per cent and Opposition leader Ro Teimumu Kepa at 11 per cent.

In the Deputy PM stakes, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum scored 62 per cent.

The nearest to him is Pio Tikoduadua from the National Federation Party at 18 per cent.

The party the people preferred to lead Fiji is FijiFirst at 64 per cent. SODELPA polled 19 per cent in second place.

The correlation of the statistics showed that Mr Bainimarama and Mr Sayed-Khaiyum offer the best leadership partnership based on a proven record.

Their strong individual showing is consistent with the party support.

The neck and neck trend between Mr Rabuka and Ro Teimumu shows the continuing rivalry that still exists between SODELPA’s camps – the Vanua Levu bloc backing Mr Rabuka and the Rewa group supporting Ro Teimumu.
